Funny thing, I took a picture of Mackenzie this morning and posted it to FB. I then started thinking about Samantha at the same age and my mind wandered to remembering that there might be a similar picture out there, but where might it be in the thousands of images I have taken of my girls over the past 7.5 years and then I remembered, our family blog! Of course, I have not updated it in 18 months and so many amazingly mundane and important things have happened. We have taken awesome trips, we have watched the girls grow, funny kids say the darnedest things moments and what I have dubbed our summer shenanigans have now crossed over two summers. Yep, our family blog has been quiet, but our family has not and I am hoping that this is our revival to capture the moments that in 10 years will seem so distant, but remain so important in who our family really is.
So here is the picture that started the thought, Samantha 7 days before turning 3 and Mackenzie 15 days after turning 3...

6 month hiatus, what?
Okay so I just realized that I started a post in Dec and then never posted.. So this is my the Asquith's are still alive and busy as ever, but just have not had a lot of photo op moments. I am going to work on a few photos to update everyone on Mackenzie's amazing growth and all her adventures and the adventures of Samantha!! I promise that I am going to get back into the swing of this, because it is so important to remember the moments for the girls!!!! Hope everyone is well. For now enjoy the pic of the girls from Christmas!

Kindergarten, ready or not!
Okay we were all really excited to start the new school year. I am pretty sure it helped that she had summer school this year and that was our warm-up! It was also super special because my mom is here visiting for 6 weeks, so she was able to celebrate with us (my mom misses a lot of milestones, so this was pretty cool). On Monday night we went to meet the teacher night (I am actually only adding this part because of a funny story from that night)! It was so fun to see the classroom and meet Mrs. White. During the conversation with her teacher we discovered that she was from Olathe, the through a few more questions we learned that she went to high school with me and Brandi at Olathe East! She was actually a lot younger than me, but her sister was the class of '99, so we knew a lot of the same people. What a small world!
The first day was a lot of fun. We had Sam's favorite for breakfast, pancakes, and then took her to school. Marc was even able to miss his back to school meetings to be there! After school we had a special prize and dessert for her! It was a great day and so far she is loving every day of school!

We have had such a fun and full summer! I have more pictures to share, but this is a start to what June and July looked like for us (can't believe it is August!). I am trying to catch up so that we are up to date once school starts!
The tent was Marc's graduation present from his parents. The heat wave this summer means this fun backyard campout was the only time it has been up, so far. |

They have been friends since birth! So hard to believe they start KDG next week! |
