A Baby Shower Fit for a Prince

We have started our vacation in Atlanta and we kicked it off with a party for my sister, Brandi. She is due with the first grandson in either family August 18 so we had a baby shower for her in Atl.
We did a mixed theme with princess stuff and boy dirt, worms and other creepy crawlers. If you know my sister you know that she is a sparkly princess that still loves her barbie's so there is a little irony in her having the boy. So how do you combine these two? You start with an invitation that talks about the Queen who likes sparkle and pink welcoming a boy who likes dirt, worms and stink. From there we had a lot of fun planning. We made dirt and worm cupcakes, had bug catchers filled with gummy creepy crawlers and lots of fun... oh and a Barbie cake!!!
I know a barbie cake?!? Well we had a bridal one for her bridal shower and there are no pictures of it! The she has been all excited about having a little girl she can do it for, well no girl. So we decided all signs pointed to needing to be creative and bring in the barbie cake. We surrounded her with the dirt and worm cupcakes and put gummy crawlers up her dress and a fish in her hand.

These were the favors the card says, Little Boys are:
Truth with dirt on their face, wisdom with bubble gum in their hair, hope of the future with a frog in their pocket. Alec has already cast his net and caught our hearts, we cannot wait to share the joy of our little boy with you, but for now creepy crawlers will have to do!
Tee hee... the cake. I made the cupcakes and we orderd the barbie cake
This is our cousin Cassondra, she flew in from Denver for the weekend!
Lauren's future mother-in-law made this picture and a couple of others, she is an amazing artist
can you tell the nursery theme is monkey's

Cousins at the end of the night. Grammie is on PJ patrol at all times.
